The architecture is divided into smaller components to ensure separation of concerns, easy maintenance, and scalability.

Control Plane Components

The Control Plane manages the Kubernetes cluster, handling scheduling, controller management, and overall cluster state. Its key components include:

  1. API Server:

    • Acts as the frontend for the control plane.
    • Handles all communication between users, applications, and the Kubernetes cluster.
    • Exposes a REST API that users and components interact with to manage workloads.
  2. etcd:

    • A distributed key-value store that stores all cluster data, including state, configurations, and metadata.
    • Critical for maintaining the desired state of the cluster, ensuring consistency across the distributed system.
  3. Scheduler:

    • Assigns newly created pods (container groups) to nodes based on resource requirements and current node capacity.
    • Factors like CPU, memory, and custom constraints are considered when scheduling pods.
  4. Controller Manager:

    • Ensures that the current state of the system matches the desired state.

Node Components
